Mind, Body, and Soul
Thousands of people who consume Ayahuasca report positive, long-lasting changes to their lives. Individuals report that Ayahuasca provides a sense of connectedness to nature, other people, and the Universe. Thousands have experienced moments of profound, life-altering insights and new perspectives into applying compassion, love, and empathy into their lives. Yet to be substantiated reports suggest that Ayahuasca has significant anti-parasitic and anti-fungal properties leading to significant improvement in a variety of gastro-intestinal maladies. In addition, there have been reports of significant changes to those suffering from chronic pain, cancer, and a variety of other severe physical and psychogolical health issues.
To take a step towards bringing this powerful medicine - and the rich expertise, philosophies, and traditions that comes with it - to Canada, work must be done in order to prove Ayahuasca's benefit beyond personal spiritual development. Greater scientific insight is required into the feasability of the plant medicine as an alternative, or primary, treatment for illness. Ayahuasca Canada hopes to foster and support the research and development of the medicine.
The video below created by treasured Canadian environmentalist David Suzuki will provide an introduction into the spiritual and medical healing potential of the plant medicine. Underneath, you will find links to academic articles about Ayahuasca from Canadian and international scholars.
"Ayahuasca is an exemplar of traditional indigenous knowledge, an entheogenic practice that is a powerful means not only of healing and learning, but also of reliably fostering wonder and awe—primary emotional states that can imbue the world with meaning and value."
"These findings suggest participants may have experienced positive psychological and behavioral changes in response to this therapeutic approach, and that more rigorous research of ayahuasca-assisted therapy for problematic substance use is warranted."
"These results suggest that AYA has fast-acting anxiolytic and antidepressant effects in patients with a depressive disorder."

"In its proper ceremonial setting, under compassionate and experienced guidance, the plant – or, as tradition has it, the spirit of the plant – puts people in touch with their repressed pain and trauma, the very factors that drive all dysfunctional mind states. Consciously experiencing our primal pain loosens its hold on us. Thus ayahuasca may achieve in a few sittings what many years of psychotherapy can only aspire to do. People can re-experience long-lost inner qualities such as wholeness, trust, love and a sense of possibility. They quite literally remember themselves."
